JetBlue flyers who wished to redeem their TrueBlue points on flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines faced a bit of a complication before. The awards could be booked by phone only and at variable rates. The good news is that JetBlue has published an official award chart on its website. The bad news is that you still have to call to book.
As you can see, the redemptions are somewhat zone-based. It’ll cost you a different number of miles to fly to the Aloha State, depending on where you are.
For example, West Coasters can redeem 44,000 TrueBlue points for a round-trip flight in economy class and 90,000 TrueBlue points for a round-trip award in business class. East Coast residents will need to redeem 60,000 points for a round-trip flight in economy and 140,000 points in business class. Intra-Hawaiian flights are 6,000 miles and 12,000 miles each way in economy and in business, respectively.
The award chart benefits those on the West Coast more than those who are farther away. However, some other programs, such as Korean Air SKYPASS and Air France/KLM Flying Blue, offer round-trip awards for just 25,000 miles and 30,000 miles, no matter from where in the U.S. you fly.
Unfortunately, the awards on Hawaiian Airlines aren’t bookable online. To make a booking using TrueBlue points, call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583). Although still not super convenient, it’s nice to have at least a reference to an award chart and know how many points you need for a redemption.
For a TrueBlue points boost, think about signing up for The JetBlue Plus Card, which will net you 30,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first three months. The card earns 6X points per dollar spent directly with JetBlue, 2X points per dollar spent at restaurants and grocery stores, and 1X point per dollar spent elsewhere. The card’s annual fee of $99 is waived for the first year, and TrueBlue points never expire.
Will you use TrueBlue points to fly to Hawaii with Hawaiian Airlines?
