A couple of weeks ago, I was able to help my boyfriend save nearly $90 due to a benefit of one of his credit cards that he didn’t even know about.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve (and Chase Sapphire Preferred and others!) come with purchase protection!
He had dropped his phone while we were rock climbing outside and totally shattered the glass on the back of his phone. Amazingly, his phone still worked, but since he was within a couple of months of making the purchase, I knew it was a good call to look up the details for the CSR’s purchase protection.
Luckily, his phone was still covered so he was reimbursed the full amount for the repair of his phone! Had it not been fixable, he would have been able to get a new phone under the protection as well.
Here are the details you need to know in case you need to use your CSR’s purchase protection.
Who’s Eligible? The cardholder and recipients of gifts purchased by the card holder with the card offering coverage.
What’s the Maximum Coverage? $500 per claim and $50,000 per account
What’s Covered? Personal property that has been damaged, stolen, or accidentally lost within 120 days of purchase
What’s Not Covered? Used or pre-owned items, antiques or collectibles, motorized vehicles, software, items purchased for resale or commercial use
What should you do if you want to make a claim?
If you have an item that is eligible for Chase’s purchase protection, you should either call the number on the back of your card or head to eclaimsline.com to start your claim process. You’ll need to provide evidence of the damage or theft (photos or a police report) as well as information about your original purchase and the cost to repair or replace your item.
When my boyfriend submitted his claim, it took only a few days before the claim was approved and a few days more until he received his check. Thinks like this is what makes cards that have annual fees worth it!
Have you ever needed to use Chase’s Purchase Protection?
