New Credit Card Offers I Have My Eye On

In the past six months, my husband and I have only signed up for one travel credit card – the new Hilton Aspire. In the 12 months before that, we only signed up for 1 or 2 new cards.

This is pretty strange for us considering we usually sign up for whatever new cards we’re interested in every 90 days. But, with card issuers tightening up on approvals and not that many stellar offers coming out, it was probably time to pause our credit card game for a while.

Still, I do plan to sign up for some new cards once we’re ready. A few I am angling for in the next year include:

SPG Luxury Card

Recently, we learned that Starwood Preferred Guest and American Express will roll out some new offers in August. One of those offers is for a SPG Luxury Card with a $450 annual fee.

While I’m not big on paying huge annual fees for travel cards and especially not hotel cards, I may consider getting this card for myself and my husband if the signup bonus is big enough. Unfortunately, nobody knows this detail quite yet.

What we do know is that this card will offer 6x points at Marriott and Starwood properties, 3x points on restaurants and flights purchased from airlines, and 2x points on all other purchases. You also get a free anniversary night for properties up to 50,000 points per night in the new program, complimentary gold status, up to $300 in statement credits at Marriott and Starwood properties, elite qualifying nights, Global Entry/TSA credit, Priority Pass membership, and more. In summary, paying the fee on this card could be worth it the first year when you factor in the $300 in on-property statement credits and first-year signup bonus.

Ritz Carlton Credit Card

The Ritz Carlton Credit Card isn’t a new offer, and I’ve actually had it in the past – I think 3-4 years ago. Since you can earn the signup bonus on Chase cards every 24 months and this card isn’t beholden to the Chase 5/24 rule, I am considering getting it again.

The Ritz Carlton card is yet another one with a $450 annual fee, but it does come with a $300 travel credit that was fairly easy for me to use last time around. Right now this offer includes two free nights at a Ritz Carlton Category 1-4 property, although there will be some changes to which properties qualify once Marriott and SPG merge into their new program. However, the offer has come with three free nights in the past, so I have been holding out to see if that happens again. If it doesn’t in the next 6 months, I might sign myself and my husband up anyway so we can redeem our free nights at the Ritz Carlton Aruba.

Capital One Venture Rewards

The Capital One Venture Rewards card is one I’ve never had. I have had the Spark Cash business card from Capital One several times, but never this similar personal version.

I love this card because it offers 2x points on every dollar you spend along with a 50,000 point signup bonus after you spend $3,000 on your card within three months of account opening.

The best part about this card is the fact that you can redeem your points for any travel purchase you want at a rate of one cent per point. For that reason, this card is a great one for covering miscellaneous travel expenses, cruises, train fare, or off-brand hotels.

What new offers are you considering right now?
