Great Places to Make Last-Minute New Year’s Eve Plans

It’s already December and you haven’t booked any plans for New Year’s Eve! Don’t panic; there are still plenty of hotel rooms available and a few of them are hosting incredible NYE bashes that you can’t miss. The holidays are a great time to earn or redeem points, so whether you’re a member of rewards programs with Marriott, Hilton, SPG, or IHG, there are always plenty of options with nice perks and parties! Here are a few ideas to check out for this year’s NYE festivities, but don’t wait — tickets are selling quickly!

New York, NY, Marriott Rewards

Yes, the dreaded New York City on NYE. Each December 31st, over one million spectators pack into Times Square to herald the new year as the crystal-laden, 12 thousand pound ball descends. However, there are ways to do NYE in New York without standing for hours, finding yourself nowhere near a restroom, or feeling like a participant in some great human experiment.

This year, the New York Marriott Marquis is hosting an exquisite party at The View, the on-site restaurant residing on the 48th floor. Enjoy a decadent five-course meal, all night open bar, and late night nibbles while you dance your way into 2018. The View is a rotating restaurant, slowly turning 360 degrees every hour and giving you the best view over Times Square. If you are committed to spending NYE in NYC then do it right—do it with New York Marriott Marquis.

Chicago, IL, Hilton Honors

For a big city getaway that’s an hour displaced from the Eastern Time Zone, you can always head to Chicago. Let New York have their fun, then ring in the New Year in the Midwest with Hilton Chicago. Located right on Michigan Avenue, this well placed property hosts a fabulous soiree every year and it sells out, quickly, every year. One great thing about this event is that it includes a pre- and post-party with your one ticket, as well as the option to add a visit to the Comedy Club or a 3 course dinner.

Hotel rooms with your ticket also entitle you to discounted hotel rooms for the 31st as well as adjacent nights, which are ultra hot commodities on NYE. Enjoy a spread of hot and cold Hors d’oeuvres and all-night music from Kiss FM DJs, then welcome 2018 in a cloud of confetti when the clock strikes twelve. Chicago’s best NYE party is always at Hilton Chicago.

Denver, CO, Starwood Membership Rewards

The Mile-High City is hosting its Black Tie Party this NYE, and you have to check it out. Located at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, this open bar event is sure to attract all of Denver’s best. The party will take place in the 28,000 square foot Plaza Ballroom, and with only 1,200 tickets available, that’s a lot more dancing space than you’d have standing in the middle of Times Square.

Enjoy over five hours of unlimited open bar, casino games, professional live music, a confetti blast, and a champagne toast to ring in the new year. Be aware that while the title of the party includes the term “Black Tie,” the event itself is black tie optional; encouraged, but not mandatory. If you are planning to spend NYE on the front range of the Colorado Rockies then don’t wait to grab your tickets — they will sell out soon!

Vienna, Austria, IHG Rewards

Suppose you’re looking to leave the states in favor of celebrating with European gentility and grace. A bucket list item for many, Hofburg Silvesterball is an annual festival celebrating the new year in Vienna. As one of the most grand balls in all the world, this festive event combines traditional elegance with modern frivolity and is located in the former Imperial winter residence. Note that InterContinental Vienna is an official hotel partner of the event, so members of the IHG family may take advantage of this.

Guests of the ball can choose from a variety of packages; the highest covers a delicious four-course gala dinner and drinks while the smallest package covers access to the ballrooms and a champagne toast for those who would rather skip straight to the NYE festivities. Additionally, guests can book an extra Viennese Waltz lesson during the day on December 31st; this is a great way to prepare for the evening. For Viennese luxury, book a ticket to this year’s Hofburg Silvesterball.

Where will you spend New Year’s Eve this year?
