Because I write about credit card rewards, readers constantly ask me about my favorite cards. Which cards do I use the most?
I’m not very shy about the fact that I’m a Chase enthusiast to the core. Despite their restrictive 5/24 policy and the fact they ruined the IHG Rewards card for me last week, I still love the Chase Ultimate Rewards program.
Still, there are actually four cards I use on the regular — and they even come from three different card issuers. Here are the four cards I use the most, plus why:
Chase Sapphire Reserve
For me, using the Chase Sapphire Reserve card is a real no-brainer. I earn 3x points on travel and dining, and I earn 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases. I love Chase Ultimate Rewards because I can use them to book fun excursions or transfer to my favorite transfer partners like Air France, Hyatt, and Southwest Airlines.
While the Chase Sapphire Reserve card has a $450 annual fee, it’s $300 annual travel credit and other perks make it well worth it to me.
Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard
I mostly use the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard to pay the mortgage on one of my rental properties these days. I do this because I have earned over 250 referrals through Plastiq, meaning I can make payments there for free without paying the regular 2.5% fee.
I like the miles you earn with this card because you can redeem them for any type of travel as long as the redemption is 10,000 points ($100) or more. I recently redeemed almost all of my existing points for a Mediterranean cruise this summer.
Hilton Aspire Card
The Hilton Aspire Card may not be a winner for everyday spending but I’ve been using mine occasionally to keep it active. Not only do I use the card for Hilton purchases to earn 14x miles per $1 spend, but I use it for groceries and incidentals sometimes. However, I mostly use it because I am trying to stay on the good side of American Express after cancelling all of our Platinum cards last year.
I definitely plan to use this card more when I stay in a few Hilton hotels later this year. Both resorts I have booked in October qualify for the $250 annual resort credit, meaning we’ll get $250 off our room or food at each resort.
Ink Preferred Business Credit Card
Last but not least, my husband and I use our Ink Preferred Business card for all our business expenses. We love the fact we earn 3x points on all our business travel and the Facebook ads we spend a ton on each month for our website.
Another benefit of using this card is the fact we can pool our points with our other Chase cards. So, we get the benefit of earning points with our Ink card then transferring them to our Chase Sapphire Reserve account to get 50% off travel booked through the Chase portal.
Last but not least, this card only has a $95 fee.
Which travel cards do you use the most each month? Why?
